Quoted the following from an email.
So which category do you belong to?
I learnt during the same course that typical figures show that a workplace consists of the following people:-
i) 83% Angry or Confused
ii) 17% Positive
The Angry people come into the office each day with a sullen face and negative feelings to begin the day. They cannot be bothered to greet people. Worse, they don’t even return greetings. They get irritated at the slightest approach, “What, what do you want??”, complain a lot about the company, and yet strangely, stay with the company for many years.
Familiar?
The Confused people are slightly less confusing. They are the ones who get by work day-to-day, lost at times with “huh, today got meeting meh??”
This group of 83% completes work and idle. When asked, “Oh, finished already lor. Boss never say... so keep quiet, relax lor.”
Now, the Positive people are happy people who are differentiated by the following trait. “Boss, that day the task you asked me to do, completed already. Is there anything else you like me to follow-up?
This group of 17%… actually ask for more work!
Given one common scenario:-
“Hey guys, may I please seek your co-operation in shifting these tables and chairs out of the room?”
The 17% thinks ‘Sure, work gets done quickly when everyone pits in efforts.’ Proceeds to shift, and comes back for 2nd, 3rd piece of furniture.
The 83% thinks ‘Co-operation… make use of me only.’ Proceeds to shift, goes missing after 1st piece of furniture, but will make sure they come back at the end. ‘Eh, everything shifted already ah. That was fast.’
Familiar??
What type of worker are you? We can all start with a small step. When you step into your office tomorrow, just greet a pleasant “Good Morning!”.
Try. ;)
So.. qn.
If the person that you greet doesn't reponds to you. What should you do? Tricky qn rite?
